A sad eyed dragon

This is the sad eyed little dragon that I made 4 years ago. One thing you can't see in this picture is that the other wing broke off. It broke while I was carving the figure and I fixed it. It broke again after surviving the bisque. The colors were done with Mason stains in slips. The main body was a purple, it burned out in the kiln. One of the things that I like about this one is the exagerated features. The large head and feet are way large.

Here is a peak at some of the little monsters in progress. They are sitting in the kiln waiting for their siblings to be done. This is the kiln that I rented at the Petersen Art Center. I have my own kiln that can hold 2 little monsters. In this kiln, I fit in 16 for the bisque and 12 for the glaze fire. That left me with a few runs to do at home, but it really trimmed off a lot of time.

I am planning on doing some more figures. I have a pair where I broke the foot off one. I will probably try to fix it with paper clay, but I will also try reproducing it. Then I will probably move on to some other forms.
